When an account reaches the charge-off stage, forwarders and repossession agents often must get creative with tactics for finding elusive customers and vehicles. In addition to use of license plate recognition (LPR) data, this often includes pulling in other databases and social media searches.
An agent will use Deep Skip in cases of higher-value vehicles – although in today’s market, even mid-range vehicles may warrant Deep Skip – when additional investigative and surveillance tools may be warranted. Where DRNsights Skip Trace is the gold standard for establishing patterns of a vehicle’s whereabouts, Deep Skip pulls in additional resources and can be useful with high-value assets or when agents suspect a vehicle may have been hidden, left at a body shop or even shipped out of the country.
One tactic is to use records and database searches along with LPR data to find other vehicles the borrower may own or lease. Locating secondary vehicles often can lead directly to the borrower and reveal the location of the asset out for repossession. Deep Skip tactics can also include replevins and bonds. We’ll talk more about those topics in part two of this series coming soon.
